One of the traditions of Amsterdam Pride is a number of street parties. Just like the King’s Day street parties, they can be extremely popular.
Below we list the most important Pride 2015 streetparties, plus a few smaller interesting ones.
1. The Big Street parties
One of the big parties is undoubtedly going to be the Amstel Street party stage. On Friday July 31 (6pm to 1am), and on Saturday August 1 (2pm to 1 am), the Amstel near Rembrandtplein will be packed with party dwellers.
Another important location is going to be at Zeedijk (a bit oddly translated on the Pride website as ‘Seawall’ in ‘Seawall Street Party’). The location is likely near the cafes De Engel, Queenshead and Barderij, but the website Zeedijk street party shows a location more halfway toward the Nieuwmarkt square.
In any case, go to Zeedijk and follow the noise (and your gaydar)!
This party will be on Friday (6 to 1) and on Saturday (1pm to 1am).
For women, the place to be is the Vivelavie party at Rembrandtplein. Friday July 31, 7pm-1am and Saturday August 1, 1pm-1am.
2. Some other outdoor parties
Worth mentioning is the Trans Biggest Party Ever. This is a party especially for trans(gender/sexual/anything), on one of the urban beaches of Amsterdam, called Roest. Located in the East part of the centre, on a previously industrial area.
At bar Reality (known for its Caribean/Surinamese/African – how do you call it? – atmosphere) there’s also a street party, Partytime Cafe Reality.
Friday July 31st : Master Kaseko from 18.00 till 01.00 hrs. On Saturday August 1st: K’RIBE from 13.00 till 01.00 hrs. Live on stage. Your host is Miss Kiki Boops.
