Amsterdam Pride 2015 offers a lot of parties, but it is more than just flirting, drinking and dancing. The Pride offers also an interesting program of films and theater performances. Here is our pick for 2015: three top picks and one extra ordinary one.
1. Schijn – a solo by Fahd Larhzaoui
Let’s start with the extraordinary one: Schijn or Appearance. This is one of the hits of last year’s theater season in Holland. It is a solo performance by the actor Fahd Larhzaoui, which tells his autobiographical story of coming of age and coming out in the Maroccan community in Holland. It has been praised for it’s raw, honest and touching performance. It is a performance in Dutch, so that might limit it’s appeal to some of our readers. But we recommend it highly for the readers who have a good grasp of this language.

2. Bianca del Rio – Rolodex of hate
Performing in the theatre especially built for the play about Anna Frank, Bianca Del Rio, the winner of the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race , will be for the first time on stage in Amsterdam. She will captivate fans with her sharp wit, dismembering humor, and impeccably quick-witted comedy – everything and everyone is her target.

3. The Secrets (Ha-Sodot) – Film Israel 2009
Traditionally there is the Open Air Cinema on the Nieuwmarkt at Amsterdam Pride. But a special cinematic performance this year is at the Jewish Historical Museum. The Secrets tells the story of two Orthodox women who secretly help a sickly, mysterious woman (Fanny Ardant). That woman is suspected of a crime of passion. Kabbalistic rituals to purify the wife of her sins exceed the boundaries of Jewish law.

4. Need by Jack Credit
Jake Credit presents a dark live-experience, battling his compulsive existence. Being an entrepreneur comes with a pulsating pressure of proving yourself to others. This performance combines four different disciplines, creating underground madness.
