Europride contains various sports events. You can choose from a variety of sports, including self-defense, workouts, track and field, handball, waterpolo, squash, running, tennis, swimming, hockey and bridge.

It is summer, so we list three outdoor activities that stand out:
Violence against LGBT’s still exists. Even in Amsterdam, which is known for its tolerant atmosphere, we meet with negative reactions to evidently gay behaviour, such as kissing and holding hands, or cross-dressing.
It is therefore a good idea to learn something about self defense.
On July 23 there is a workshop where you learn to recognize escalating situations and to de-escalate. The workshop is based on Krav Maga. It is easy to learn, and no knowledge of martial arts is required.

Time: 12am – 5pm. Max. 20 persons can participate (for free), duration 20 minutes, every hour on the hour.
Location: Vondelpark, next to the cafe ‘Blauwe Theehuis’.
On August 5 (a day before the Canal Parade) there will be the Pride Run. You can choose from various distances: 5 or 10 km, or half a marathon. Or you can be part of the audience, cheering on the runners. This is a popular event with a great atmosphere!
The start is in Amsterdam East, at Sporthal ‘Zeeburg’.
Pre-registration for the Pride Run is open until August 2.
The pre-registration fee is E 5,- for the 5 km run, E 6,- for 10 km and E 7,- for the half marathon. If you register after August 2, you should add E 2,- (every distance).

3. Love Swim
On Friday the 5th of August, LoveSwim will organize a swimming festival in the Amstel River. From 4:30pm until 9:00pm swimmers from the Netherlands and all around the world will join each other in a sportive open-water swimming festival. And this is not just some body of open water; you will be swimming in the Amstel River from which the city of Amsterdam has originated.
Since our Queen Maxima swam in the Amstel river it’s been royally approved.
