Amsterdam Dance Events (ADE) 2018 highlights in gay clubs

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) electronic music event and club festival in the world. It takes place every year during the month of October. ADE offers parties, workshops and panel discussions. It is a 5 day event from 17th till 21st of October, where you can totally immerse yourself into everything to do with electronic dance music. The gay club scene is on of the founding blocks of  this industry. And that relation is still going strong today. Several gay clubs are involved in this years’ ADE, with parties in Club YOLO, Club NYX, The Web and newcomer queer friendly club JACK. We’ve made a selection of the parties on our events page. But here are a few nuggets you may not want to miss.

Resurrection part 1 and 2

In two club during the same day you can enjoy the Resurrection party. It all happens on the last festival day, October 21st. Part 1 is from 5PM till 1AM at The Web, while part 2 is from 11PM till 5AM at Club YOLO. Both parties want to resurrect the dance music from the old days. Part 1 in The Web focusses on the legendary clubs in NYC with sound and image, by resident djs and visuals from Our Love Is History and Mr Steve Malenka. Part 2 in club YOLO transfers you to the Amsterdam club cults from 1990 – 2018 with resident dj from clubs in Amsterdam, visuals and projection from the old days and the evolution of electonic music in the club scene.

Club JACK new queer club to discover

Club JACK was announced last year around the Amsterdam Pride and ADE 2017. They came up with a show case event during ADE 2017, but it took a long time for them to rebuild their venue and open up for business. This summer they finally made it happen and during ADE 2018 they have a full program from the 17th till the 20th of October. Every day during that period between 11PM and 8AM they got a themed night. They kick of with a night focused on the New York nightclub The Bunker.

JACK likes to be a club that “celebrates diversity, creativity and forward thinking electronic dance music. With a open minded and unconventional mindset JACK likes to play with expectations, art and music.” So check out the ADE program at JACK and give them a try. You might be surprised

Women of House

The position of women in the music industry is a big topic of discussion. It is good to see that at several events women dj’s and artists get the podium to show of their art and get you moving. The Web has even a special Women of House party on October the 18th from 9PM till 1AM. 8 DJ’s will show you that evening that “there’s no shortage of women who can hold their own behind the turntables. From seasoned veterans to rising star.” Among them resident DJ Bo Monde.

If you can’t get enough of the female touch you can go the same night to Club NYX for a special night by Lady Bee. She “will bring her signature sounds of addictive Trap, Moombahton, Dancehall, and Bass to a whole new level!” She will not do it alone, she also invited friends to join her that evening.

More information

One of the great thing about ADE is, that it is a conference and festival. That means that many of these shows are ways for DJ’s and other artists to show off their talent to industry insiders. And what better way to do that at a free entry party! For the parties at JACK you need tickets, but they are modestly priced at around €18.
