Never mind the bad weather, a lot of people picked up their coat and made their way to the Westergasfabriek for the Amsterdam LGBTQ film festival or Roze Filmdagen. In fact a record number of people visited the film festival. Over 9600 people attended one of the many LGBTQ themed films and documentaries. That was 5 percent more than last year.
Werner Borkes, the director of the film festival, is quoted to say: “The succes of previous years has continued. We have widened our public appeal. Also the number of foreign visitors has increased.” They enjoyed films like Souvenir with Isabelle Hupert. Or watched PrEP&ME and made up their mind about the impact on let’s say today’s young people. Or enjoyed Women who kill, a lesbian twisted comedy.
Let’s hope they will be able to continue their good work and organize an even beter film festival next year. Expect the filmfestival to take place around the same period in March. We will keep you posted on the newest developments around the Roze Filmdagen.
