A cinema more or less specialized in gay movies (and we don’t mean skin flicks!) cannot be found in Amsterdam. But we do have a yearly Gay and Lesbian Filmfestival in Amsterdam, “Roze Filmdagen” (pink filmdays). Check out their site: http://www.rozefilmdagen.nl/
You can buy gay films at bookstore Vrolijk (Paleisstraat 135, tel. 623.51.42) and at sexshops like The Bronx (Kerkstraat 53-55).
At the IHLIA/Homodok (the gay and lesbian archives), they have lots of information about lesbian films. Visit the Homodok, which is located in the Public Library: Oosterdokskade 143, 6th floor. Or their website.
For sex films: see the Map of Gay Sex Cinemas & Sex Shops in Amsterdam
All regular cinemas in Amsterdam show most movies in their original language with Dutch subtitles.
If you are a cinema lover in general, there are some cinemas you should visit:
1. The brandnew Amsterdam Film museum Eye (IJpromenade 1) http://eyefilm.nl/en (across the IJ, at the back of the Central Station).
2. The beautiful Art Nouveau style Tuschinski theatre (Reguliersbreestraat 26-34 )
3. Tip: Cinema Pathé De Munt has a gay evening every first Wednesday of the month, starting 9pm – with free welcome drink! (See their website)
