Cafe 't Mandje
The Red Light Jazz Festival is held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. The Red Light District in Amsterdam is known for it’s bars, restaurants, hookers and brothels. Add to that a healthy dosis of Jazz and you got the Red Light Jazz Festival. The red light district is quit a natural location for a jazz festival. The first jazz bars in Amsterdam were in this area in the 1920’s and 1930’s, where the sailors hang out who brought this new style of music to the Netherlands.
Cafe ‘t Mandje joins the festival with two concerts on the 3rd and 4th of June. That will feel like a return to the roots of jazz in Amsterdam, because ‘t Mandje was founded just in the period jazz came to the city. The bar still has the same feel as in the old days, so with the addition of two great concerts it will feel like you are able to travel through time.
