The 20th edition of the Amsterdam LGBTQ Filmfestival, or Roze Filmdagen in Dutch, s the largest film festival for LGBTQ films in The Netherlands. The 20th edition promisses to be bigger and better than ever. The festival is a platform for the LGBTQ community and film lovers alike. The films vary from romantic comedies to thought provoking documentaries. The festival always gives special attention to short films and their selection is applauded by international (LGBTQ) film festivals.
The opening night is on March 9th at the Ketelhuis and Westergas Theatre. The opening film is Irish movie ‘Handsome Devil’, directed by John Butler.
As always the Amsterdam LGBTQ Filmfestival pays a lot of attention to current topics. This years’ special topics are Rainbow Families, PrEP and migrants. Q&A’s are organized after most of these topical films. Depending on the audience these Q&A’s will be in English or Dutch.
At the festival virtually all screenings are in English, or have English subtitles. But in the case of Dutch movies better check the movie descriptions. There will be a special screening of Dutch shorts, which will all have English subtitles.
Ticket sales start on February 22nd and the full program is available from February 17th on the website of the Amsterdam LGBTQ Filmfestival.
Opening times: during week days we start at 15.30h. In the weekend at 13.30h.
